I bet you people have heard of Lou Gehrig but did you know he weighed 14 pounds when he was born. Lou Gehrig was a amazing baseball player he always worked hard and was a great role model.Lou Gehrig was born in New York City on June 19, 1903. His parents, were immigrants from Germany they lived in the lower-middle-class in new york neighborhood in the early 1900s. Henry Louis the second of four children, was the only one who survived when he was a baby. He weighed 14 pounds at birth and was a very strong boy. Doctors at the Mayo Clinic diagnosed Gehrig with a very rare disease amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which is now called Lou Gehrig's disease. He would never play baseball again. The disease kills your nerve cells in your brain and in your spinal cord. I believe that Lou Gehrig is a hero because he always work hard even when he was hurt and he never gave up unless he was hurting his team. I also believe that he is a role model because he never gave up.
Lou Gehrig was one of the best all around baseball players of all time, he possesses the qualities of being a hard worker and a role model therefore he is a hero. He is a hard worker because he always tried his hardest not only when playing baseball but also in life. Lou Gehrig was a very hard worker he had more than 2,721 hits in his career and 493 career home runs. "Gehrig won the Triple Crown in 1934, with a .363 average, 49 homers and 165 RBI and was chosen Most Valuable Player again in 1936. Despite his towering size, he stole home 15 times in his career. He batted .361 in 34 World Series games with 10 homers, eight doubles and 35 RBIs" ("Lou Gehrig Biography."). This shows how much of a hard worker he is. It is very hard to do any of this that is why he is in the hall of fame for baseball Great baseball players usually have a great passion to the game. "I am a slave to baseball and only because I really love the game, hate to think of taking even one day away when we are playing" ("Lou Gehrig"). He said he was a slave to baseball but he still played the game because he loved to play. I wish I had the drive to work as hard as him. This is why I think Lou Gehrig is a hard worker.

Lou Gehrig was a great role model in his life he help out people and was a great guy. Lou Gehrig is a role model because somebody that loved him would never trade any time of his life bad or good with anyone else. "I would not have traded two minutes of the joy and the grief with that man for two decades of anything with another" ("Lou Gehrig's wife, Eleanor"). This shows how good of a role model his wife did not want to trade 2 minutes for 2 years to be with any other man. This proves that he was a great role model because he was a leader. He was a great role model because even though his dad had a drinking problem he still help his parents. "Heinrich Gehrig was an art-metal mechanic who worked sporadically due to drinking and ill health. Christina Gehrig took jobs as a maid, launderer, cook, and baker. From a young age, Henry helped his mother deliver laundry. He developed a close, lifelong attachment to her" ("Lou Gehrig"). This shows how he would help out his parents when they needed help without having to be asked. This proves that He is a great role model for kids of all ages. This is why I think he is a role model.
