My hero is my cousin Lucas Kaiser. He was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 15. Luke was everybody’s friend because he treated everybody with kindness. He was always really energetic, willing to do anything and help out. Luke really enjoyed music, cars and working with technology. He was a normal 15 year old student with a great personality.
He was born the year 1986 and the month of November. Lucas lived to the age 18 years old, with cancer, on his senior year of high school. Luke had the type of cancer called leukemia. When Luke found out that he had cancer the second time he was just thinking about his own solution of getting rid of the cancer in his arm. Luke honestly just wanted the doctors to cut off his arm because he didn’t want to go through cancer again.
Luke always set a good example for me by the faith he kept when he was dying. Luke would always help out the little guy who was always getting picked on. He also went through cancer with courage, strength and spirit along with his faith. Luke also gave an example to never give up fighting. The way that he gave that example was when he got cancer the first time and he fought against it and never gave up.
My cousin Luke is important to me because he taught me to never give up even when it gets really tough, just keep going. Luke gave me a lot of insight when it came to courage and suffering and how to deal with it like he did. Luke also gave an example to never give up on hope.
The way Luke made a difference in my life was that he showed me to never quit and to keep going. Whenever I think about quitting I just think about my cousin Luke how he had it worse with the cancer and he didn’t give up right away, so whenever I’m playing sports or even in school and I’m so tired that I want to stop and give up, I just think of Luke battling the cancer then I keep going forward. Also he taught me if things get to the certain extent where it’s impossible like in Luke's case, just place it in God’s hands.
