Leonardo Da Vinci (April 15, 1452 - May 2, 1519) was a great man. He was a scientist, mathematician, artist, sculptor, engineer, inventor, anatomist, architect, musician, and writer. Leonardo was a very curious man. His curiosity lead to the better understandings of human anatomy, new ways to paint, and inventions, some of which are still used today. He may have been the most diversely talented person in the world, but what really made him famous was his ability as a painter. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the most renowned people who has ever lived. He is an awesome hero.

Leonardo achieved so much in his lifetime. As a painter Da Vinci was very accomplished. He created two of the most famous pieces of art in the world. The Mona Lisa (A lifelike portrait of a woman) and The Last Supper (a painting of Jesus Christ during his final days). No paintings are as famous, as mass reproduced, and most parodied portrait and religious paintings of all time, but painting wasn't Da Vinci's only specialty. His technological ingenuity allowed him to envision the helicopter, the tank, solar power, the calculator, and plate tectonics. Most of his ideas were never made and, for the time, it was incomprehensible. AS Leonardo said, "I have been impressed with the urgency of doing."

My hero Leonardo Da Vinci lived in a great place at a great time, Florence Italy, during the Renaissance. Leonardo was born in the Tuscan hill town of Vinci. Not much is known about his childhood. People have told many stories of his childhood, so many that today no one knows what to believe. Although he lived mainly in Italy, Da Vinci also lived in other places, such as Rome. Italy, was just coming from its darkest time, then came the Renaissance, a time of good health and economy. Leonardo lived in the heart of the visions and painting world.

Leonardo Da Vinci is my hero for many reasons, but the main reason he's my hero are his designs for inventions - being able to conceive and put down on paper some of today's best machines. Some of his designs were so interesting that today there is a show called doing Da Vinci. Think of trying to design a tank, or helicopter, back when cars haven't even existed. Leonardo was way ahead of his time. He believed that a calculator would one day exist, and now i don't know what I'd do without it. Da Vinci wasn't my first choice for a hero, but not far from it. When I saw his name I knew that he was my hero. Everything he's done has affected our lives.
