My hero, Lisa Leslie is a fantastic basketball player. She is a role model and a model. She was born in Los Angeles, California on July 7th, 1972. Not only is she an outstanding basketball player, Lisa has accomplished a lot in other fields. She is designing sports clothes and just had a baby.
Lisa Leslie did a lot. After junior year in College, Lisa was invited to play for U.S. junior squad. She was a World champion in 1993. Now you see how she is a hero! She joined the WNBA and in 1996 she was US Basketball player of the year!
In the beginning of her life her father deserted Lisa and her family. Lisa had to fend for herself a lot because her mother had to go to work on the road. Another challenge that she faced was her amazing height. In second grade Lisa was taller then her teacher at 5 foot 2 inches! Wow! So in her life there were many things she had to overcome.
Lisa is quite intrepid. You would have to be brave to be an African American woman and play basketball like she does. Don't you think? Another word that I think really shows people about Lisa is dedication. I say this because she is a woman who stuck to her sport, difficult or not. One last trait that is an example of Lisa Leslie is persevering because she keeps at her sport, basketball. Also, she is persevering because she made the best of living without a father when she was young.
Why is she my hero? I really look up to Lisa because she has all of the traits I mentioned above. Another thing that makes Lisa a great role model is she made her dreams come true just like every child wants. I chose Lisa Leslie as my hero because she is an inspiring person to me.
