My hero is not a typical hero like Superman or Spiderman; mine is a real hero, because a hero is someone that demonstrates bravery and talent. Her powers come from her soul. She cares for others and is proud of her country and her effort. Her name is Lorena Ochoa.

Lorena Ochoa is a Mexican golfer that was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, on November 15, 1981. She started golfing at the age of five. She won her first state event at the age of six, and her first national event at the age of seven.

As a junior she captured 22 state events in Guadalajara and 44 national events in Mexico. It seemed Lorena would be a champion in golf. Her parents influenced her in this sport; they have always given her their support. This has helped her to develop as a golfer and as a professional athlete.

Lorena Ochoa has a superior ability to concentrate. This is an important skill in golf. She is recognized at the international level because of the many titles she has won.

My athlete is a hero because she demonstrates bravery on the golf course; she gives forth the message to never give up...never! Putting her soul in the game is something Lorena never forgets. Being honest in her game is something that will be indelible in our minds. She is not a celebrity, she is not a beautiful face that wants to win an Oscar, she is a strong woman who wants to win for her country and for herself. She is proud of her effort, and I recognize it. That´s why Lorena Ochoa is my hero.
