What is your definition of a hero? A hero to me is a person that goes out of their way to do something good for others. My hero is Ladainian Tomlinson. I like Ladainian not only because he is a good football player but because of what he does off the field. He has a camp called Camp LT. He also has a foundation for underprivileged children. He also hosts a golf tournament for anyone who wants to join and raise money for charity.

Ladainian was born on June 23, 1979, in Rosebud, Texas. He attended high school at Waco, Texas. After high school, he went to college at Texas Christan University or TCU. After college he went into the NFL (National Football League) He was picked to be a running back for the San Diego Chargers as their fifth overall pick in 2001. In 2003 Tomlinson had over 1,000 yards rushing. He was the only running back who caught over one hundred passes. He was also the only running back at the time that could catch, run, and throw the football. In 2006 he broke Shaun Alexander’s record of 31 touchdowns. In the same year Ladainian also scored his 100th touchdown in the NFL.

My hero is giving. He has a foundation for underprivileged children, and he also gives money to charities and he pays money to host golf tournaments for people that want to join. He has a camp called camp LT. Kids can go there to talk to LT or play football with LT. LT was watching TV one day and he saw a commercial about children that were mistreated. That’s when he started the foundation and gave money to charities.

My hero is also hopeful. He takes away time he could be practicing football and spends time with these children. Every year he opens his camp for the children. There, the children can play by themselves, play with each other or play with LT. His camp is in his college stadium in Texas.

I picked Ladainian Tomlinson because I grew up watching the Chargers play football. I have most of his jerseys but not his college ones. LT is an amazing person. He has a camp, a foundation, and he hosts a golf tournament for people who want to join. I also like LT because he cares for the children and he is a good role model. I hope that when I grow up I'll be just like him.
