My hero is Lebron James. LeBron James was born in December 30, 1984. He is an amazing basketball player, he is a role model to many people, and he helps kids. Lebron James wears the #23 because Michael Jordan is his hero. I wear the #23 because LeBron James is my hero. LeBron James is my hero because he showed me that I’m better than what I think and that I have something to show the world.

When LeBron was growing up, his childhood was tough. He grew up without his father and he and his mother moved from apartment to apartment. His role model when he was younger was Michael Jordan; now LeBron’s a role model to me and a lot of other people. He is a role model to me because I saw his commercial about basketball. He says “You don’t want to be like me; you want to be better.” Now I love playing basketball. I want to end up like him. He came from the bottom and went to the top to become what he has become now, the best player in the N.B.A.

LeBron’s basketball career really kicked off when he played for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio. He was 6’7” by the time he became a sophomore in high school. His freshmen year the team went 27-0 and won the state championship (the school's first since 1984). He was drafted right out of high school to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron James is an amazing basketball player; he averages 30.1 points per game, 7.90 rebounds a game and 7.3 assists per game. LeBron was the youngest player in history to get drafted in the N.B.A. He was the first draft pick of the 2003 season. He was also the youngest ever to play in an N.B.A. final game (Cavaliers versus the Spurs). LeBron also made the N.B.A All-Star Game every year he’s played so far.

LeBron has kept clean despite his youth and helps other. LeBron appreciates his God-given skills and is always trying to reach out and to help others in his capacity as a leader and a role model. Specifically, he helps and supports kids. LeBron said,”Working with all of these kids is great. It doesn’t get any better than this, to come down and inspire kids who want to play the game of basketball and put smiles on their faces.” He has helped build playgrounds for kids. The first one will be installed next week at the St. Bernard recreation center in New Orleans, which was devastated by hurricane Katrina. James will dedicate the playground on February 14; three days before the city hosts this year’s N.B.A All-Star Game.

LeBron James received the N.B.A Community Assist Award in June. He treated 800 people, many of whom were homeless families, to a Thanksgiving dinner at the Quickens Loan Arena. There was a movie after the meal.

LeBron James is my hero because of all these things he has done to help the community. Also, he is a hero because he is a great basketball player who teaches everyone to be their best, just like he was and is. LeBron James is my hero because he showed me that I’m better than what I think and I have something to show the world.
