Leonardo Da Vinci was born April 15, 1452 and died May 2, 1519. He was a scientist, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, painter, sculptor, architect, musician, and writer.
Da Vincis' dad, Messer Piero, was a notary and his mom, Caterina, was a peasant. He didn't have a surname but used Da Vinci meaning "Of Vinci". His full name was Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, meaning "Leonardo, son of (Mes)ser Piero from Vinci". He was also known as the "Renaissance Man" and one of the greatest painters of all time.
Leonardo invented many things, including some things we use today including the helicopter, a tank, the use of concentrated solar power, a calculator, a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics, and the double hull. Some his designs weren't constructible during his lifetime. Some of his smaller inventions such as an automated bobbin winder and a machine for testing the tensile strength of wire helped manufacturing greatly.
For science he studied many different animals such as cows, birds, bears, monkeys, and frogs. He also studied many parts of the human body, like the skeleton, vascular system, sex organs, and a human fetus.
Da Vinci has many famous paintings. Some of the most well known include the "Mona Lisa", "The Last Supper", and "The Head of an Angel".
Leonardo Da Vinci was very intelligent and talented. He helped the Renaissance and people with his inventions. In my opinion he was a genius. One that only comes every now and then.
