My hero is Abraham Lincoln. He was Born on Feb, 12,1865 in Kentucky. His mom died when he was ten. On January 1,1860 he was elected president. He was assassinated on Good Friday April 14,1865, at a theatre in Washington.

Abraham Lincoln had four kids and married Mary Todd. As a kid he was home schooled. He worked on a farm, splitting rails for fences, and keeping store at New Salem, Illinois. His parents were both born in Virginia

He lost his first election and did not give up. He was a brave and strong leader. He led troops to war for four years to fight because he believed in freedom.

I have to say Abraham's biggest significance was that he led the people that did not want slavery anymore through the Civil War. He kept the war going until he won and he changed America forever. Today he is still known as one of the great presidents.
