On March 12, 1804, Abraham Lincoln was born. He loved books. When he was an adult, he saw an African American being tortured as a slave. He definitely did not like this. He led an army in the Civil War in 1860. Then, four years later, his troops marched out triumphant. Slavery was no longer allowed.

Abraham Lincoln is my hero because without him, African Americans would be slaves. If he didn’t fight in the Civil War, I wouldn’t be typing this essay.

Another reason he’s my hero is that he had a great character. The fact that he had a good character can be proven in that most of the people that voted for him voted for him because of his good character. Another fact proving he had a great character is that once, two boys played a prank on Lincoln. He didn't get mad or anything. He just laughed! And those are reasons why Abe Lincoln is my hero.
