Trevor Linden has been a leader in Vancouver since the day he first arrived. He has become an incredibly important member of the community, on and off the ice.

Trevor Linden was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1998. He went 2nd overall. In his first year with the Canucks he was named Rookie of the Year by the Hockey News. He finished 2nd, to Brian Leetch, for the Calder Trophy in his rookie year. In 1990-91 he bacame the NHL's youngest captain. That year, he was also the youngest player in the NHL all-star game. In the 1993-94 season Linden lead the Canucks to the Stanley Cup final. The team lost an incredible game 7 to the New York Rangers 3-2. Linden scored both Canucks goals. He is one of two players who have ever scored 2 goals in a game 7.

At the begining of the 1997 season, Linden lost his captaincy to Mark Messier. Messier failed as the team's new captain. During Messier's captaincy, Trevor Linden was traded away from the Canucks. The city of Vancouver was devastated to hear this news. But,in 2001 he was traded back to the city he calls home, Vancouver.

In 1997 Linden was awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, the trophy that is awarded to the humanitarian of the year or player who shows the most leadership on and off the ice. Trevor Linden played on team Canada during the Nagano Olympics in '98. He has even won 4 Cyclone Taylor trophies and Linden appeared in an amazing 482 consecutive games.

Since Trevor Linden came to Vancouver he has been an incredibly important member of the community. Frequently, he visits Canuck Place, which makes an effort to comfort children who are dying. He has also started his own foundation, the Trevor Linden Foundation. He has helped so many children during his career in Vancouver and will continue to as long as he can.

Trevor Linden has been crucial in Vancouver both on and off the ice. He has led the Canucks to a goal away from the Stanley Cup. He has also made many sick kids feel special. Trevor Linden is an inspiration to all of us.
