My hero is Lisa M. She is both my aunt and my sponsor. She was born on September 16, 1970 in Korea. When she was in Korea she was abandoned. When she was about 18 months my grandparents adopted her. She is a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and is very active in helping others overcome addictions.

She isn't the type of hero that has a cape and flies around, or is famous or well known. The reason she is a hero to me is because she has helped me and several other women break the chains from drugs. She also helps girls with alcohol abuse. She is the type of lady that you can tell anything to, and she won't judge you on it. One thing she will do is give her perspective on the situation. You can also trust her with all your secrets. Trust me, she gives great advise also. Another reason she is my hero is because in spite of the fact that she was lost in the world of drugs and alcohol addiction, she took the needed steps to come out of that way of living. She lives out a life of service to others and honesty.

Lisa is originally born in Korea. She was an orphan as a young baby. Before she was adopted she got deadly sick. When she was about 18 months, and better she was adopted. She lived a normal life as a young child. Her two biggest passions were dance and piano. She did both for several years. When she was getting older, she started drinking and also doing drugs.

When she got to be an adult, she married Jeff. They had one beautiful child. Later on, Jeff and Lisa ended up getting a divorce. A few years later she got married again to Patrick. They also had one beautiful girl. While they were married they both were really heavy into drinking and drugs. Patrick was a very angry man, and started becoming abusive. For several years, she took the pain and abuse. Finally she was sick of it and took action against him. They ended up getting divorced, and getting her life back on track. She attends AA meetings when she is free.

This person is important to me because she is my aunt that I love very much. I also respect her a lot. Lisa has also changed many other people's lives, and mine and I love that about her. She is one person I will always look up to for help, support, and love. When I work all the 12 steps I want to do what she does a lot, sponsor a girl who needs help.
