Lucille Desiree Ball

Lucille Desiree Ball was born on August 6, 1911 in Jamestown, New York. Her first job was modeling for the Chesterfield poster girl. In 1940, Lucy met Desi Arnaz on the set of "Too Many Girls" it was love at first site. They eloped a few weeks later.

Lucy is one of the most loved comedians of all time. She has appeared in many television shows in her life time. She has also been on the cover of the TV Guide more times than any other actor or actress to this date. My personal favorite show that she had starred in is the "I Love Lucy" show.

The reason I choose Lucille Ball is because she is a really great comedian. She has gone through some things in her life time and I really think she deserves to be recognized. Early in her career, she was accused of being a communist. There was a big uproar in the news about it. But even though people were accusing her of being a communist she kept her head and would joke about how her being a communist was as fake as her hair color.

I think that it takes a lot of guts to do something like that. Plus the fact that she did not lose her cool or get all upset says a lot, too. She had a great personality. She was also known for changing the way TV is done today. Back then you were not aloud to say "pregnant" on TV, and to show her being pregnant on the "I Love Lucy" show was a big step to take. She was a risk taker and she ended up helping her career in the process.

Lucille Desiree Ball died April 26, 1989. She still lives on in her children and her movies and shows that are still played on TV Land. I think she was a great person and I look up to her. I hope that I could be like her when I get older. She had a great personality and a really great career.
