Valentin Voyno-Yasenetsky, was born in April 27, in 1877 in Kerch. His father was a Catholic, often went to church and prayed at home. Valentin was the third of five children. His parents soon moved to Kiev, where Valentin finished Kiev school and Kiev art school. In January 1904 during the war with Japan, he was sent to the Red Cross hospital in the Far East and worked in the city of Chita, where he met nurse Anna Lansky and he married her. From 1905 to 1917. He worked as a country doctor in hospitals of Simbirsk, Kursk, Saratov and Vladimir Province, and was an intern at a Moscow clinic. During this time, he introduced a lot of new techniques in operations. In 1917 he received as chief physician and surgeon at Tashkent hospital. In January 1944 he was appointed as archbishop of Tambov and Michurinsk. He continued to save people`s llives: he was in charge of 147 hospitals. He writes: "One Sunday afternoon in 1944, I was summoned to a meeting in Tambov chiefs and chief surgeon of the hospitals of the Voronezh Military District. At that time I was the lead surgeon of the hospital for 700 beds, standing in Kotovsk " In late 1943 he published a book "Sketches of purulent surgery, and in 1944 - the book" Late resection of infected gunshot wounds of the joints. " Luka wrote a lot of sermons and articles of spiritual, moral and patriotic content. After his death, he was canonized.
