A hero to me is someone who has a good attitude, and self-confidence. A hero is hard working, helpful and dedicated. The hero I chose is Greg Lutzka. Greg is a professional skateboarder. Greg has a great attitude and inspires kids to go out and skate. Some pro skateboarders think they are the greatest and are so full of themselves.
Greg grew up playing hockey in Milwaukee. Greg played hockey until the age of 9. Greg came home from hockey camp one day and decided to ride a skateboard instead of playing hockey. Greg entered competitions at age 13. Greg knew the only way he could make a career out of skateboarding was to move to southern California. Greg rented an apartment with his friends. A few months later, he got his first sponsor. Greg finally bought a house in Huntington Beach California.
When I go out and skateboard I always think of Greg Lutzka. Sometimes before I go out and skate I watch Greg’s part from “Almost Round 3” just to get motivated. Last year Greg came to a skate park in Springfield when he was on tour. I was there. When you watch any pro on a DVD they look really good. When you watch them skate in person, they are incredible. Greg’s inspired me to skate in many ways, and I bet he inspired many others.
