Matthew Bellamy

Matthew Bellamy was born in June 1978 in Cambridge. His fans have given him the nickname "Bells". His mother, who is called Marilyn, is an Irishwoman. She has worked as a medium. His father, who is called George, has worked as taxi driver in London. He was in a group of musicians which is called "The Tornadoes". Matthew has an older brother and an half-sister. He discovered music when he was a child with the piano. When he was 10 years old, his family left Cambridge to live in Teignmouth, in the south west of England. When he was 13 years old, his parents divorced and after this event, Matthew lived with his grandmother. Then he decided to learn to play guitar alone. He was around 14 years old when he met "Dominic Howard" and "Chris Wolstenholme", his partners in their band MUSE. Matthew is a fan of Rage Against the Machine. He likes Nirvana, Deftones, Primus and classical musicians such as Berlioz, Rachmaninov... It was when he discovered Jeff Buckley that he accepted his voice.

Matthew Bellamy is somebody that I admire because he is a virtuoso. He is able to blend piano with electric guitar to create a music piece where those instruments merge. I discovered MUSE when I was 15 years old and it was strange. I didn't believe that we could play piano in a pop rock music group. I began to play piano when I was 6 years old without stop. Matthew has showed me another way to enjoy playing piano. Moreover Matthew is close to his fans. He has said that the best thing is the contact with people. In spite of his popularity, he stays a simple person. He doesn't play music to earn a lot of money, and he doesn't care about people who download his music because he knows that his fans will buy his album and they always make a big tour which has a great success. Furthermore Matthew Bellamy is an accomplished artist because he writes the lyrics and the music of all his music and he is comfortable in different sorts of music because in the four albums, there is music for everybody: there is classical time of piano, there is soft music, there is hard music... In the last album, there is my favourite song which is called "Knight of Cydonia" which is like a western music. To finish, I want to say that Matthew is somebody who can do all the music that you need. You don't need to listen other music to have a great time !
