My hero is Martin Luther King Jr. My hero was born on Tuesday, January 15th, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Martin’s best friend was a white boy at an early age and usually was not able to play with him. He received over 21 college honorary degrees from numerous colleges in the U.S. and other countries.

Martin skipped 9th and 12th grade and entered Morehouse College at the age 15. While out of school, he liked to read, sing, bike riding, and play baseball and football. King authored six books Stride Toward Freedom, Measure of a Man, Strength to Love, Why We Can't Wait, Where Do We Go From Here, Chaos or Community.

M.L.K. delivered his 'I Have a Dream' speech to civil rights marchers at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Martin Luther King Jr. was the youngest person to receive a Nobel Peace prize. Wrote a letter from Birmingham Jail arguing that it was his moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.

Martin organized a mass march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, that created national support for federal voting-rights legislation. In 1964, King became the first black American to be honored as Time magazine's Man of the Year. Helped found and served as the first president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.). That is why Martin Luther King Jr. is my hero.
