What does a hero mean to me? Many people think that a hero should be big, strong and brave, but not all heroes are. A hero to me is someone who trys to help with problems that are going on around them.
My hero is Dr.Martin Luther King, Jr. He may not have been very big or strong like Superman but in my book he is an inspiration to all. He was there for anybody that needed his help. He helped with his community. I think to many people he was a saint.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's. beliefs touched all. His "I Have A Dream" speech stated that he believed that all men and women should be equal. He taught me how all races should be equal. He helped me see how many people can be very cruel to women or to a certain race. I imagine that he felt frustrated when sometimes he felt like he could not do anything when he saw how people could be so cold-hearted. He opened up people's eyes and showed them how they can do the same thing if they try. He once asked a crowd "would you like to be treated like a slave all the time?"

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. came from a long line of religeous people. He was born on Tuesday, January 15, 1929. He lived in Atlanta, Georgia with his brother and sister. His father was a reverend and his grandfather was as well, so he recieved a lot of his beliefs and courage from his family. I think family can help you with a lot. Dr. Marin Luther King had a great life. He married Coretta Scott on June 18, 1952. He had four kids : Yolanda, Martin III, Dexter and Bernice. While he was helping others, his family was behind him every step of the way.
Martin Luther King, Jr. accomplished many goals in his life. One of his accomplishments was when he ended segregation on buses and made a huge impact on ending hatred between most blacks and whites. I think he showed courage by talking to people about the problems and by going on strikes. He also accomplished permanently changing the way two races and many people look at the world.
His death was one of the world's greatest tragedies. When he died many people's hopes flew away like a bird. He was shot on April 4, 1968. He was standing on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis,Tennesse. He was there helping sanitation workers in a protest. His funeral service was held on April 9, 1968. He was one of the heroes that changed the world's history.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was very smart. He didn't do all of his hard work for fame, he did it for the people. He stood up for what he believed in. I don't think there is anybody in my time who can do what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did for his people. If he were alive today I would shake his hand and tell him what a hero he is to me. He has taught me to stand up for my rights. He is everything I look for in a hero. That is what a hero is to me.
