MY HERO JOINS ORANGE COUNTY'S IMAGINATION CELEBRATION
LAGUNA BEACH, CA – 4/4/13 - The MY HERO Project is announcing its first time participation in the Orange County Imagination Celebration, a countywide event that brings together the disciplines of dance, film, music, literature and visual arts in a collaborative effort between arts organizations, schools, cities, libraries, and community venues.
Although this is the 28th Anniversary of Imagination Celebration, presented by Arts Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education, this is the first time that The MY HERO Art Gallery will be participating in two different venues. The event offers opportunities for children to participate in multi-disciplinary art projects. This year's theme is Full STEAM Ahead, STEAM being an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. The MY HERO Project has been selected to offer children hands-on projects specifically in the area of Technology.
The month long Imagination Celebration runs from April 20 - May 26, 2013, at several Orange County venues. MY HERO will be at the Laguna Art Museum on Saturday, April 20, from 11 AM until 2 PM, to help children create art and stories about their personal heroes. The hero tales and pictures will be featured on MY HERO's free, globally accessible website (www.myhero.com), to be shared with children and adults around the world. The MY HERO activities at the Laguna Art Museum are funded, in part, by the Festival of Arts Foundation grant. Admission to the Museum for the festival is free.
"The MY HERO Virtual Art Gallery is very excited to be collaborating with the Laguna Art Museum to create meaningful activities for their children's festival," said Victoria Murphy, Curator of the My Hero Art Gallery. "MY HERO will emphasize the theme of Technology at the Celebration. We are expecting more than 400 people, most of them children, and that will really be fun. We are grateful to the Festival of Arts for helping MY HERO with its first collaboration with the Laguna Art Museum."
In addition, Victoria Murphy added, "MY HERO will also participate at Explorocean's Imagination Celebration in Newport Beach on Sunday April 21st, 2013. We will be painting murals and preparing hero art on the beach where the children will be able to use the ocean as their inspiration."
