Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali was an incredible boxer, stood against the Vietnam war and did this all during a time of segregation. He fought with intense power but also fast footwork. He had lost his money and fame when he stood for what he believed.

Muhammad Ali was an incredible boxer because he fought "61 fights. He lost 5 and he won 37 by ko." ( the greatest of all time) He did all of this during segregation when people were harsh and unforgiving towards black men and women. Muhammad Ali had a unique fighting style which allowed him to have fast footwork and powerful punches. Soon Muhammad Ali in many ways invented trash talk in the boxing ring. But soon he got drafted to go to the Vietnam War.

Muhammad Ali stood against going to the Vietnam War even when he was drafted. "He was a hero to others because of his stand on the Vietnam War. He was a conscientious objector and gave up virtually everything - his career, his title, most of his income - to stand up for what he believed in"( Iole, Kevin. )." He didn't go to war against other people when black and white people fought in his own country. He became a public speaker and spoke for what he thought what was right. He became a beacon of light in the harsh environment of segregation and for many he was a hero.

To us, a Hero is a person that doesn't care about what other people might say about him but still followed his dreams. Muhammad Ali fits this title because he lived at a time of segregation. And he had to worry about other people and how they would call him out on his name but he withstood all of the harassment and this is why he is our hero.
