Marian Anderson

Marian Anderson was born February 27, 1897. She was the oldest of three daughters of Annie and John. Marian grew up in Pennsylvania; she attended at William Penn High School. That was before she started to like music. She started to like music so she changed schools and went to South Philadelphia High School, focusing on singing and music. She graduated High School at the age of 18. She applied at for an admission at a local music school but was coldly denied because of her color.

Marian Anderson was a civil rights leader, a dancer, actress, and a singer. She was in the civil rights motion because she felt that black people deserve to be treated like they treat the white people, which is with respect and honesty.

Marian started singing at the age of six, she joined the junior choir at the age of six, and then when she was thirteen years old she joined the senior choir. When she was fifteen years old she started getting voice lessons from Mary Saunders Patterson, a famous black singer. After that, Marian married Orpheus H. Fisher. He was an architect she had known since they were in their childhood times. They lived at Marian Anderson’s farm. During the World War II and the Korean War, she entertained the troops in the hospital and bases. She performed there over a thousand times.

Marian Anderson is my hero because I thought that she was a very unique person and that I thought she was very helpful to her kind and that she was a kind and intelligent person. I also picked her because I thought that she was a strong and strong minded person. She was a peaceful person, and she had a husband. Also she helped in the civil rights movement.

Marian Anderson did all that by the help of a really supportive friends and family, she got the help of a very famous African American singer named Mary Saunders Patterson. She helped Marian by teaching her ways to be an amazing singer, and it worked Marian became a really famous singer, dancer, actress, and an amazing helper for the Civil Rights Motions. Marian Anderson died in April 8, 1993 at the age of 96. She had an amazing life.
