Matthew Bellamy

Heroes can inspire people in many areas of their lives. A person can be a hero for character reasons such as faith, some for physical talents, and others still for achievements. Musical excellence and creativity make Matthew James Bellamy my musical hero. Although I cannot say I would want to model my morals and beliefs after him, I have come to appreciate his musical genius. Musically gifted, he has inspired me to reach for the goals I set before myself. Someday I hope to be in a band that plays original and unique music. With inspiration from Bellamy’s creativity, I have moved closer to making that goal a reality.

Virtuoso singer, guitarist, and pianist, Bellamy creates his own recognizable musical style. He leads the band Muse, which is known for their amazing live performances, distinctively versatile style, and their unique way of weaving classical elements into their modern compositions. Bellamy has a style unique to the point you can listen to a song and easily say whether or not it sounds like Muse. From Spanish guitar, to classical piano, to space rock, and to all types of alternative rock, Muse plays a wide variety of musical genres. Each song has a flavor so vibrant that after one bite you taste it the rest of the day. And of course, he pulls it off live, because he has the musical excellence to back up his unique style.

In conclusion, Bellamy’s musical creativity and mastery inspire me to develop to my full musical potential. I want to someday compose music as fantastically simple, yet elegant as Bellamy’s creations. He stands out from other musicians in the sense that his music is a balance between technical excellence and human connectivity. Although he could create poppy music that would sell more, he steps back and makes music for the joy it brings, and not for the money. For all of these reasons, Matthew James Bellamy’s style, excellence, and unique way of composing music make him my musical hero.
