The term "hero" can mean many different things. A hero can be someone who has made a difference in their community or society in general. They can be someone who rescues lives, or helps those in need. There are many different types of heroes, but my hero is someone who has inspired me and moved me through one of the many beautiful forms of art: music. His name is Matthew Bellamy.

Matthew James Bellamy was born on June 9, 1978 in Cambridge. At the age of 10, he moved to Devon with his family, but ended up living with his grandmother due to his parents' divorce at the age of 14. It was in Devon where he met fellow band mates Dominic Howard and Christopher Wolstenholme. Together, they formed the rock group, Rocket Babydolls, which eventually became Muse. With Matthew as the vocalist/guitarist/pianist, Dom as the drummer, and Chris as the bassist, the band has seen much success with 5 studio albums out worldwide and immensely mind-blowing world tour shows.

It might seem strange to consider a musician as an inspiration for something other than music, but Matthew's work has never failed to leave me speechless. With a very unique sound, he has showed me that you don't have to be afraid to expose qualities of yourself that you believe might not be immediately accepted by people because, it's who you are and you shouldn't have to change for anybody. Matthew isn't afraid to experiment with different styles of music and thinks outside of the box when it comes to writing lyrics. His confidence as a unique musician creates a beautiful musical result, and continues to inspire me day after day.

As a writer, I often slip into reveries about millions of ideas with the help of music. Matthew's unique blend of classical piano with modern rock music creates a style that simply intrigues the listening ear involuntarily. He also uses a very different style of singing, occasionally using falsetto, which is not common among modern day male musicians/artists. This music never ceases to provide me with the right state of mind to do my writing, whether I am writing a short story, or a poem. It is simply unique and beautiful, and has also caused me to develop a taste for classical music. The verbal inspiration I get from listening to Muse is simply inevitable, and it is due in great part to Matthew Bellamy's musical genius.

Matthew Bellamy has been my hero in the form of inspiration. His music fills my head with millions of ideas for writing, and his individuality as a musician has showed me to be myself. I have garnered a new found respect for difference and individuality in society from listening to Muse. Matthew Bellamy's music, and lyrical genius, have proven to be one of my biggest inspirations in my hobby and future career as a writer, and there is no better reason to prove why this amazing man is my hero.
