Mel Brooks |
He worked as an American film director, screenwriter, comedian, actor, and producer. You might recognize him from movies like Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, History of The World Part 1, Young Frankenstein, High Anxiety, The Producers, Silent Movie, Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Hotel Transylvania 2, and many, many more.
You might be wondering, "But what makes him a hero?" One of his jobs in the military during World War II was to defuse land mines, which is a very risky job. It is amazing that he survived and later took up a profession that brings a lot of happiness: comedy. Most people wouldn't have taken up such a happy life after such a dangerous one. Mel's reply after being asked a question about the war by his son was, "You thought about how you were going to stay warm that night, how you were going to get from one hedgerow to another without some German sniper taking you out. You didn't worry about tomorrow." Some more quotes by Mel Brooks:"Humor is just another defense against the universe." "If God wanted us to fly, he would've given us tickets." "If you're quiet, you're not living. You've got to be. noisy and colorful and lively." No matter what happens, Mel Brooks will always keep us laughing.Page created on 1/14/2016 12:00:00 AM
