Heroes help others in need, that's one of their main characteristics. All heroes have many distributing qualities, making them unique.  Heroically, her bravery, selflessness, and perseverance, was shown throughout her entire life from 1886 to 1932. She was always standing up for what she believed in. My hero is Margaret Brown.

Selflessness was one of Molly Browns main focuses. Whether it was opening a soup kitchen, raising money for the St. Judes hospital, to help rebuild after World War 1, organizing the distribution of food and blankets on the Carpathia, Molly Brown was always there to help others in need.  After the sinking of the well known Titanic, Molly Brown and many others were saved by the Carpathia. While sailing  back to New York, passengers and crew members were running out of food and the weather was frigid. They had to do something, and they did. Molly was chosen by the first class members on the Carpathia to be the leader of the food and blankets distributing. In fact, once she got to New York she set sail again to France. Molly Brown stayed in France during World War I, she worked with the American Committee for Devastated France to rebuild areas behind the front line and helped wounded French and American soldiers. She was awarded the French Legion d'Honneur for her good citizenship. Additionally she had raised money for the St. Judes hospital, opened a boarding school for children and a soup kitchen for the unfortunate, all in Denver, Colorado.

As we have seen, Molly Brown was selfless, but she also contained bravery. Including a separation with her husband, putting others first, and helping in World War 1. Molly was born and raised in Hannibal, Missouri and later in her late teens, she moved to Leadville, Colorado. Though she hoped to marry into wealth, she married into love with Mr. James Joseph Brown or JJ Brown. They worked their way to riches, bought a house in Denver, Colorado (The Molly Brown House), and had two children. Her relationship with JJ Brown was getting a little shaky. Molly wanted to do her charity work and JJ Brown wanted to continue in mining, so later on they sent their two children to a boarding school and headed their separate ways, but they did not get legally divorced because they were both Catholic. Despite her status, while the famous Titanic was sinking, she was offered a spot first on a lifeboat because she was a first class member.  She refused and instead she helped the other passengers safely aboard the lifeboats. Once all passengers were assisted she finally got on lifeboat number 6 and was saved by the Carpathia. As you know, once she got to New York she set sail again to France to help wounded soldiers and rebuild damaged areas. Molly Brown did not have to give up her lifeboat or help with World War 1, but she did anyway and risked her life for the sake of others and this showed true bravery.

Life was not always a piece of cake for Molly Brown, but she always, somehow kept on persevering through it. She ran three times for public office, worked hard towards her riches, and raised women's rights and worker's rights.  She also pursued one of her dreams of becoming an actress.  Molly Brown lived in Hannibal, Missouri and grew up poor.  When she was a teenager she worked stripping tobacco leaves, which didn't pay very much.  Once she moved to Leadville, Colorado, she and her husband JJ Brown became miners and became wealthy after much hard work.  Afterwards, as an activist she fought for worker's rights and women's rights. Also, she worked to start one of the first juvenile courts in the country.

Although she was famous for surviving the Titanic, Molly Brown served everyone around her. She always stood up for what she believed in, no matter how wild it was. I love that she was always ready to do whatever, whenever.  Even though  she had  many riches  she used them wisely and for the good. Throughout her life, Molly has shown  selflessness, bravery, and perseverance. She was a hero to many others including myself. Molly Brown is my hero.
