Missy Franklin is a beautiful, young and very independent woman and inspires very many young swimmers. That's why she is my hero. The book I am reading about her is an autobiography. The book is 306 pages long and was published in 2016. The span of my book is from 2003-2016. Here are 5 facts about Missy: #1. She started swimming competitively when she was only 5 years old. #2. She has been swimming with the same coach ever since she was 7 until 2008 Olympics in Beijing. #3. She holds the world record for women's 200-meter backstroke. #4. She swims up to 6000-meters a day. #5. Before every swim meet she likes to do something "good".

Missy was born on May 10th, 1995, in Pasadena, California. She was raised in Centennial, Colorado. Missy was an only child. Her mom is a physician, and her dad is a consultant. Missy's parents had very horrible childhood memories. Missy's mom and dad's parents both had alcoholic problems. On both sides Missy's mom and dad's fathers were both abusive to their wives. Missy's mom got taken away from her parents and got given to her godparents, because her parents were unfit parents. Missy went to the University Of California, Berkeley. When Missy wasn't at school, she loved to bake and/or play with her dog. At this past Olympics, Missy came in last in her semi final heat in her best event. Missy was not very happy with her results in Rio this year but she said to herself, "It's one event. I'm not going to let that wreck my career." When Missy was younger, her big dream was to go to the Olympics. Before Missy hit the water she had the athletic vibe running through her body. Before Missy was born her dad played competitive football.

Missy has had to overcome a lot of challenges. But her hardest one was Rio. She competed with a fractured ankle and shoulder problems. She may not have won a medal, but she will still be a good influence to other swimmers. Missy overcame her challenge at Rio by finding faith in a scripture verse in the Bible. Missy Franklin's parents inspired her to be a true Olympian. Missy's mom influenced her to become a swimmer. Missy is brave for traveling around the world and competing with other swimmers and never giving up. Missy's weaknesses are that she doesn't like to lose a race. Some funny things about Missy is that when she was only 14 months old she was already dressed up in her team gear ready to go to the toddler Olympics!! Man isn't she cool? Over Missy's life she won very many awards and medals. Here are a few of them: #1 Laureus world sports award. #2 Best female college athlete award. #3 Best U.S. female Olympian ESPY award. #4 Glamour award for the Unstoppables.

I learned that Missy went to her first Olympics when she was only 13! Woah, she's fast. If i was to meet Missy Franklin i would ask her 3 questions: #1 why did you choose to swim? #2 how old were you when you went to your first Olympics? #3 when did you get your dog? I would want to be Missy's little girl because when i am swimming she can give me good feedback. I really liked my book because it talks about her life and how she grew up. I also liked it because it gives you a glimpse of her swimming life. Some people would not like to read this book for 2 reasons: 1 - because they don't like swimming or it is to challenging for them to read. I am very happy i chose her to read about because she is a very interesting person. After reading this book i would look up to Missy as a role model. Why? Well because she is true and honest to herself. That's why she is my hero.
