Dr. Mohammad Gharib

by Fateme Chavoshi from Iran

Years ago, an Iranian TV series which was made describing Dr. Gharib's life from childhood to death was on Iran's TV. Roozegar-e Gharib (Gharib's Story) is the name of it and was directed by Kianoosh Ayyari. Well, I didn't Know Gharib and I didn't care about him. And there was not time for me to watch that TV series. Years later, when I was about 11, I bought a book written by Farhad HasanZade about Dr Gharib's life story, I read it and something began burning in my heart, like a flame of love... I knew Dr. Gharib and found my hero. I really love him and I learned many good things from him. I went to his shrine many times. I talk to his soul. but I do not hear anything, any single reaction from him. But I'm sure that he always answers. He's still alive in my heart...

Mohammad Gharib (5 July 1909 - 20 January 1975) was an Iranian physician, clinician, distinguished university professor and a pioneer of pediatrics in Iran.
Gharib is known as the Father of Pediatrics in Iran. He was a graduate of Paris University Medical School.
He died of recurrent cancer in Tehran on Jan. 20, 1975.

I took this picture of my hero's shrine in person. I love this picture. I hope you enjoy it.

The Wall of My Own Room (Taken By Me)

This is the wall of my room. You see Dr. Gharib's picture in middle and some children's paintings around it. Those are my friend's paintings. I ask every child that is related to our family to draw a picture for me and then I attach them on my room wall. You know, Dr. Gharib was the children's doctor and I tried to show this relationship between Dr. Gharib and kids.
