Everyone has their own hero. My hero is my dad. In this essay I will explain why he is my hero. The reasons are the following: he is strong, he cares about me, he loves me, he protects me, and he is very smart!

The first reason is that he is strong. My dad is strong physically, mentally, and emotionally. He is physically strong because he worked when he was a kid plowing snow, and he worked for a lawn care service, and he was very involved in sports including: football, and baseball. Now I know you think my dad is a big jock. Well, he does still have a brain. My dad is also very smart, especially in math. He gives me advice in math and he makes it clear that grades are my top priority. He only has a high school education so he is strict with making me work for a good education. He also is emotionally strong. It is very hard to show his emotion. He almost never cries!

The second reason is that he cares about me. When I found out that sooner or later I would have to have open heart surgery he said that I should have it ASAP because in the long run he knew it would be best for me. Another way he “shows he loves me” is when I get a bad grade he punishes me and when I do something bad he “shows he cares by punishing me”.

The third reason is he protects me. He makes sure I stay out of trouble. When I need his help he helps me whether it is grades or bullies. He makes sure our house is locked at night so no one can break in. He also protected me in the hospital when I was in surgery.

The last reason is he is very smart. He is especially smart in math. He helps me with school work when I need it. He only has a high school education but do not underestimate him. You would think he would be stupid working when he was 14 and intensely playing football and baseball. Well you would be wrong!
