Michael Jackson in Jackson 5 |
“And my goal in life is to give to the world what I was lucky to receive: the ecstasy of divine union through my music and my dance.” This quotes was once said by the legend himself Michael Jackson. He was born in Gary, Indiana on August 28 1958. He started off his career at the age of 5, singing and dancing in Jackson 5, which was formed in 1964. The performers in the group were his 4 bros Sigmond or “Jackie,”Jermaine, Marlon, Toriano or “Tito,” Steven and ”Randy.” They were discovered in 1968, with their four hit singles “abc” “I want you back”, “the love you save” and “I’ll be there.” He started his solo career in 1977 acting in “The Wiz.” Then in 1982 he came out with his first record, beating for number-one-single-album “off the wall” with the #1 hit in America “thriller.” The album itself sold over 49 million copies worldwide. Through all this success he still experienced a lot of obstacles such as criticism, his father’s cruel abusiveness, paparazzi following his every move and his skin disease called vitiligo, which would put blotches in his skin. Even then through all this he still remained selfless to his fans. Michael Jackson possessed humbleness and was caring even when no one else was.

This is Michael Jackson after performing |
In September of 2009 Sony Entertainment wrote about the vast charity work Michael had done over his accomplished lifetime. When he was not performing or spending quality time with his family and friends, he was donating to over 35 charities such as; Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Child help USA, Children's Defense Fund, Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation, End Hunger Network, Great Ormond Street Hospital, The Jane Goodall Institute, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Prince's Trust, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Starlight Children's Foundation, T.J. Martell Foundation, U.N.C.F (United Negro College Fund.) He gave to those who criticized because he was a compassionate person that did not care whether or not they would disagree with his music. An example of this was spending just about 4.5 million dollars on Neverland, according to an inside executive that was working with his affairs at the time. Neverland was an amusement park that everyone could go to no matter who you were. "It was Michael's own little version of Disneyland." Also he went in debt about 270 million dollars just to keep this place running for his fans and critics. Although he enjoyed helping the world, he always kept his family and friends most near and dear to his heart.

Another side of Michael was his enduring heart that throbbed for caring for his family and friends. Michael always tried to give to his family even when he had nothing. In the interview of Michael's mother by Oprah she told of the many joyous stories of him giving back even if it was a tiny gesture such as; his laughter and always bringing the fun and joy to the Jackson household. This showed Michael was just like an ordinary individual that gave from the heart not with his wealth. He most importantly gave his friendship. At his funeral, Brooke Shields gave a heart warming tear-jerker on the crazy unforgettable times she had with Michael. She said that he was an easy person to come to for advice and to talk to. That he was the one friend that you would die for, a friend that you would have forever, one that you would tell your grandchildren about. His fame and fortune could be compared to his precious scrapbook memories of family friends.
Furthermore, Michael Jackson was a selfless and thoughtful man to everyone around him. This musical phenomenon was the youngest child star who on to having many #12 hits that men and women can enjoy and are also still played on the radio. These stunning moves, breathtaking songs capture and will be remembered for a lifetime. He was caring and humble from his days with the Jackson 5 to his death, though all his obstacles and crisis he was able to come out a legendary figure and the ”king of pop.” He may have died on June 1, 2009 at the age of 61, but his legacy will live on in many fans and even non-fans hearts.
