Magic Johnson

Everyone has their own hero, whether it's a football player, a president, or a teacher, mine happens to be a basketball player by the name of Earvin "Magic" Johnson is known for many accomplishments, one of his biggest is being known as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. Magic is also well known as a man who is HIV Positive. This changed his life dramatically and he has found a way to be a positive icon and inspiration to many. Magic Johnson was born on August 14th 1959 in Lansing, Michigan. A hero must possess the qualities of a leader ,courageousness, and how he or she uses these qualities. Earvin possesses the skills of a leader and a courageous man therefore he is to be considered a hero.

Magic has gone through a lot of things in his life, but he's always been able to keep his head in the game. Johnson persevered even though he fought through the critics in his life. "'Life doesn't stop because something happens to you.'" (Magic Johnson) This shows Johnson has had challenges but has always been able to overcome the harsh parts of his life that made him into the man we know and care for. This explains why Magic never quit his dream when he tested positive for H.I.V and still was able to confront his fans telling them what had happened. The way Earvin looked at the world was the way everyone should look he had a very positive look on everything. For example Earvin said "To me, everything is wonderful. Life is wonderful."(Magic Johnson) This shows he was always positive no matter the situation, even when he was diagnosed with HIV. This explains why Magic had a great life and millions of people that loved and cared for him, maybe even more than he cared for himself. Magic is a overall courageous person willing to stand up for what he believes in.

Leaders can come in many different shapes and sizes, but mine comes standing at 6 foot 9 inches and who can lead a community to help find the cure for HIV. "All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them."(Magic Johnson) This shows that Earvin is very encouraging and understands kids need to be taught how to grow up and need leaders in their lives. This explains why Earvin is such a great leader because he was shown how people have their moments to show their leadership skills. Leaders are willing to take chances to do what is better for the team. "I'm the one who will take chances, not worry about the backlash."(Magic Johnson) This shows that the world needs risk takers to make the world a better place and have newer and better technology. This describes his willingness to change about how he became better in basketball by making new things and plays to make his team play better overall Earvin is a courageous leader willing to take chances even when people are going by the book and he is always trying to find new things.

Many people can't handle trying to overcome a struggle because it's "too hard" Mr. Johnson made strives to be great. When he was first diagnosed with AIDS he had to tell the media what had happened and that is very tough to have the strength to do that. Magic is always climbing over obstacles in his life whether it be his career or his health. For example "When you face a crisis, you know who your true friends are." This shows why it's hard to overcome obstacles without friends. This explains why Earvin was such a good basketball player because you need to have chemistry with your teammates Earvin is an example of a person who helps people in the community. Manhood is taking care of your family and being able to bless other people. Not yourself - but whether you can bless other people. This shows how people need to work together to make bigger projects happen. This explains that all people need help in life and help getting over obstacles. People have to overcome many obstacles weekly if not daily but you have to know how to bring your confidence level up to an all time high and work everything the best you can.

All in all Earvin "Magic" Johnson possess the qualities of a leader, courageousness, and being able to overcome an obstacles. Earvin "Magic" Johnson is the definition of a great leader and has the power to touch all of our hearts. He has fought many fights with HIV, hate and criticism but he has pulled through to still be a great man. Earvin inspires me to help out more in my community and don't be afraid to speak up.
