Manuel Kaputsos

by Nicole Kaputsos

"The greatest gift I ever had, Came from God; I call him Dad!"

My hero is my dad. His name is Manuel Kaputsos. He’s a first generation Greek American and represents his country to the fullest. He has been in the military for a sufficient amount of years as well as being a mechanic. My dad is a very loud, strongly opinionated, and outgoing man, and that’s why everyone grows to love him. Even though my parents divorced when I was three, my dad never backed down and stayed in my life. He’s a determined person, and never leaves a task until it is completely finished.

Giving off his knowledge of life when he least expects it, I remember all our conversations because I know what he says has a purpose. Sacrificing himself to do whatever he can, to be there for his family, is also what makes him my hero. He will spend every last penny that he has just to make sure his family is happy and that’s why I have the utter most respect for my father. He knows when to be serious but he has a funny, not only funny, but hilarious side to him. Whenever he’s upset he doesn’t let it bring down whatever we have planned for the day.

Going over to my dad’s house is always an entertaining time. I have the choice of doing what I want because he trusts that I will be responsible in the decisions I make. He treats me like the age I am instead of a little child like most parents tend to do. Waking up to the aroma of my dad's cooking is incredible. He can take scraps and turn it into the most amazing meal you have ever tasted, very talented.

Overall my dad is the most amazing man ever. He is my hero and probably many others as well. I have learned so much from him. Teaching me responsibilities and life pointers to make sure I turn out to be a successful adult. Saying how it’s good to have friends but always be there for your family, made me the way I am today. He probably doesn’t realize it but he has a big influence on my life. I hope to one day be as loving of a parent like he has been to me. I am my daddy’s little girl forever and I love him so much for all he’s done for me.
