Martin Luther King Jr

by Drue from Cincinnati

Martin Luther King Jr was a hero because he never gave up on what he wanted. He also changed the history of the world and how we live today in a good way. He stopped people from being bullied by whites. He also stood up for his rights and every African American persons rights. He even made one of the best speeches of all time "I have a dream". In the same time in the middle he got the Nobel Peace Prize.

MLKJ  grew up in the middle of segregation he and fellow African American people were treated unfairly. When his dad died he took his position as a pastor. He moved and became another pastor. That's where he started the African American Civil Rights movement and was the leader of the SCLC, a club that he was in.

I picked MLKJ because just imagine living like we did 50-60 years ago. There would be all kinds of bullying and segregation if MLKJ did not stand up for African American rights. There would be riots still, there would be chaos and there is still in the world today but there would be 10x more than today. That's why he is my hero because he changed the world and how we live in it.

My definition of a hero: Someone who does something great for the community and never gives up on that. Did you ever see MLKJ give up? No. Maybe times got tough but he never gave up, he kept trying. No matter what people said to him he just brushed it off and kept going. The part that he did good for the community is that he gave rights to African Americans so that they could be treated equally. Also to get segregation to stop and all of the bullying.
