Marshall Mathers

by Ricky from Weyauwega

Eminem is one of the most successful rappers that there is. He had to work really hard to get to where he is now, it just wasn't all given to him. I think he is a hero because he quit drugs and inspired many others to do so also. When he was growing up he was constantly bullied in school, but he never gave up on his dream. He has won many awards for his skills and is trying to be the best there is.

Eminem had a really rough childhood. He was born in Missouri on October 17, 1972. His mom had him when she was just 15 years old, and after just a few months his father left them never to return. When he was growing up his mom and him were constantly moving, and every school he went to he was bullied. They finally settled down at 8 mile in Detroit, Michigan, when he was only 12. In around 2000 Eminem was doing a lot of drugs, as many people may know. In 2002 he stopped taking drugs and was thinking of rehab. Finally in August of 2005 he went into rehab for a dependency on sleep medication. In 2009 He went on an interview with a British talk show host Jonathan Ross. Mathers admitted that at the height of his addiction, he considered suicide, saying that, "I just wasn't taking care of myself, at times I wanted to just give it up." He also confirmed that he is now sober, commenting that, "Rap was my drug. Then he had to resort to other things to make me feel that. Now rap's getting me high again."

Eminem was married Kim but are now divorced. He has one biological daughter, her name is Hailey and she is 17 years old. He has two adopted daughters, Whitney who is 12 years old now and Alaina who is 20 years old now. And he is also the guardian of his younger half brother Nathan, he is 28 now and is thinking of joining Eminem in rapping.

When eminem started rapping he was doing underground rap battles. for some money that he needed to support his family. In one of his battles he lost he was furious but some producers of interscope records spotted him and wanted to record a record with him. They helped him make his first two albums Infinite, and Slim Shady EP. Then later in May 2000 He was working with Dr.Dre and recorded his 3rd album, Marshall Mathers LP. Marshall Mathers LP won album of the year and sold more than 8 million records. Then when he started acting he played the lead role in the movie 8 mile. He later wrote lose yourself and 8 mile soon after the movie. ( answers.yahoo.com)

When eminem donates to charities he doesn't post a video or brag about it when he does, so not that many people know that he helps charities. He made his own charity called the Marshall Mathers foundation to help disadvantaged kids. He donated a signed DJ turntable to an auction for charity. He donated a personalized video to an auction for charity which sold for $55,000. He also donated $200,000 to victims of Hurricane Katrina. ( answers.yahoo.com)

I think Eminem is one of the best and most successful rappers there has ever been. I think it is amazing that he went from being trailer trash to all the way on top. He has shown many people that it doesn't matter where you grew up or what you did when you were young you can always get to your goal.
