Norma Jeane Mortenson was born on June 1st, 1926 in Los Angeles and died on August 5th, 1962 in Brentwood. She was a very successful model, actress, singer, and was well known as a sex symbol and a number of other symbols but was better known as Marilyn Monroe. She lived a very eventful and bittersweet life. She had a very sad background which would probably make most people angry or depressed for the rest of their life, but I feel like she turned that into being very independent and trying to show other women that they can be happy.

While at the factory, a photographer was taking pictures of her while she was working when she was still a brunette. The photographer sent the pictures in to 20th Century Fox and she received a screen test with them, soon after, her face began showing up in magazine covers and then they offered her a film contract. At the end of 1946 Norma Jeane got herself a new name, Marilyn Monroe, and changed her look by dying her hair a platinum shade of blonde.

Before appearing in any movies with big roles, she started out with small parts in movies like, 'Love Happy' and 'All About Eve'. After being noticed in those movies she took on more important roles in movies such as, 'Niagara', 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes', 'The Seven Year Itch' and 'How To Marry a Millionaire'. She had many different characters to portray, varying from dramatic to comedic. For her amazing acting and other talents, and confidence and her easy way to inspire people, Marilyn Monroe is now one of the most famous women on earth.

Marilyn bought her first home in Brentwood in 1962. In the same year she was found dead in that same home, the cause of death is disputed, but most think it was a sleeping pill overdose. She passed away at only 36. Although she's gone, she is still an inspiration and role model for many artists, girls and women. She is my hero because I think most people who didn't have a father and were passed around from house to house when they were a child would be bitter because of it, but she wasn't. She was one of the happiest women and lived such a successful life and said the most uplifting and funny things. She is now more popular and famous than ever and is continuously inspiring and exciting us all although she is gone.
