    Marilyn Monroe's life started out pretty harsh. Throughout her life she moved home from home, guardian to guardian. But she managed to become a beautiful model and actress. Marilyn Monroe was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1st, 1926. Marilyn was sent to live with her mother's best friend, Grace McKee. Grace always told young Marilyn that she would become a Movie star and do great things. Little did they know, Marilyn would become not only an actress, but also a model, singer, and film producer. Marilyn's career started in 1945, at The Blue Book Modeling Agency. She was one of their most successful models, as she appeared on many magazine covers. Soon after, she was recognized/admired by Ben Lyon, and signed a contract with 20th Century Fox. They said that they preferred blondes, and she was so desperate to join Fox, that she dyed her hair blonde. 

    I admire Marilyn for her contribution to many organizations. Marilyn donated to a peace action called SANE, an organization that is trying to prevent nuclear weapons. She also was a part of WAIF, a place that help abandoned children get a home. She donated 1,000 dollars to a Mexican orphanage, and after the press left, she ripped up the 1,000 dollar check and gave them a new one for 10,000 dollars. This shows how Marilyn really cared about the children. Also she donated 1,000 dollars to a children's welfare organization. As you can see, she used her money for a good cause, instead of being selfish and using it all for herself.

    I admire Marilyn for working so hard. She worked hard on all of the movies that she starred in. And most of her movies came out great because of it. She tried to prove to everyone that she was a hard worker. And the directors and producers were glad that they picked her for the part. "I never saw anybody work so hard," noted Mitzi Gaynor. "She did such a good job and personally, I think she stole the whole show." That quote proves how hard of a worker Marilyn was.

    As you can see, Marilyn is my hero because her perseverance to do something great, donating to charity, and working hard.
