The world is full of leaders, but many of them had been forgotten because of lack of successors. A leader without successors is like a tree without leaves. Cheikh Modou Moustapha Mbacke was the first Successor of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Mbacke. He was the first khalif of the Murid brotherhood from July 25 1927 to July 13 1945. However, Cheikh Moustapha ruled the Murid brotherhood in a very difficult time. The world was in a great depression. People were catching hell everywhere. Also many Murids became worried. They didn't think anyone would capable to rule the Murid brotherhood like Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba did. Because he was an unique person there was no one near him. But the genius man called all Murids to unite and join him to finish the lot of work ahead of them, like building the great mosque of Touba. If he failed in his mission not only he himself would be the failure, but all Murids. If he achieved it, not only he himself would celebrate the victory, but all Murids. Moreover, the enemies, especially the French colonizers who had brought a lot of pain to Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba and the Murids, would never give up. Because what they were dreaming, the wish to witness it in their lifetimes, was the destruction of the Murid brotherhood. However, with the devoted men their dream turned into a nightmare. He crossed all barriers and totally completed his mission. He took wisdom, humility, patience and forgiveness as weapons to keep and renew the doctrine of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba. Cheikh Moustapha is an example for all leaders today: political, social as well as religious. His personality symbolizes humanity. Through hard work and endurance, he completed his mission. Without him the Murid brotherhood would never be where it is today.
