by Hannah from Billings

My grandma in her younger years.
My grandma in her younger years.

Marge Myhra has touched many lives. She has overcome many things and taught people, including myself, various things throughout our lifetime. Mrs. Myhra has many great qualities about herself. Numerous people look up to her because of her actions. What Marge has done for the duration of her life so far will always be remembered.

My hero currently lives in Billings, MT but has lived in plenty of places. Marge has overcome some major challenges. My grandpa Don was battling lung cancer and when I was about four, the battle ceased. It was hard struggle for everyone in our family but especially her. Losing a loved one is one of the hardest things in life. Then, not long after, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. I am proud to say that my grandma is a survivor.

In between both of those situations, other things occurred. Whether they were more loses of our family members or her health complications. Long before she lost her husband, Marge lost her only sister in a plane crash. I never met her, but my grandma always tells me about Louise and she sounded like a wonderful woman. Sometimes I make a connection to my life; I try to imagine my life without my sister, but I just cannot.

My grandma has always been there for me. She has been a huge asset to my life from the day I was born. She’s taught me an abundance of things so far. Marge helped me with my piano when I took lessons and is always willing to help me in basketball. Her actions speak louder than words and gestures like those mean a lot to me. It is not just her actions that mean a lot to me however; my grandma is help shaping the person I am becoming.

My grandma will always been in my heart no matter where the future takes us. She is constantly in my mind like she was my conscience. It’s the little things that people do that make us look up to them. I can learn from her mistakes so I won’t make the same ones and I can build further upon her achievements. I don’t think that there are enough words to describe how much my grandmother means to me. She is the ultimate hero.
