Michael Oher: Imagine having a parent who was never there for you, and you had to learn how to trust someone again. Michael Oher had this life and he made it to be in the NFL. You probably have seen the movie " Blindside", its about a teenage boy's life. He was homeless, he had nothing. His childhood was anything but good.
Childhood: Michael Oher was born on May 28, 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee. Michael's adopted parents are Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy. Michael's actual parents names were Michael Jerome Williams Sr. and Denise Oher. His father Michael Jerome Williams Sr. was murdered, Michael was in the same house when his father was killed. He heard the shot of gun. And then his mother screaming. His mother was alcoholic and a cocaine addict. He was kicked out of his mom and dad's house at the age of two years old. Michael went through something no kid should have to go through. Being dragged away from your real family, and going into foster home after foster home. He had nine brothers and sisters. And food was scarce, if there was food you needed to get to it before a brother or sister did first. Evan though he went through all that, he still got the love and education he needed from his new adopted parents, Sean and Leigh Ann Tuohy. His education was Briarcrest Christian school, and University of Mississippi. He got through his childhood somehow, then he needed to get through all the other obstacles in his life.
Obstacles And Major Accomplishments: In Life Michael Oher overcame being homeless, and staying warm. Many people in Michael's life let him down, people being mean to him, he overcame all of that. His obstacles were staying away from dangerous things like drugs and alcohol. Michael's so called "friends" were trying to give him dangerous things. He overcame all those obstacles and more. One major obstacle was overcoming any doubts he had about the Tuohy family, he hadn't trusted someone in a long time. Major accomplishments by Michael would definitely being drafted to the Baltimore Ravens. But even before that he accomplished getting into Mississippi University and getting to play football for them. Then going to the Baltimore Ravens and winning a Superbowl, 2013. Michael's life changed forever
Heroic Traits: Michael has some heroic traits, one of his heroic traits is loyalty. Michael is loyal because when he says he is going to do something you can trust him that he is not lying and he won't try to pull anything. Michael is also dedicated to football and his family. He is always there for his family no matter what, that is dedicated. And he practices for football and to teach himself to be better and better. Lastly, Michael is perseverance because he pushed through all the challenges in his life. He never gave up, he may have wanted to give up many times but he didn't. He pushed himself through all of it. If Michael gave up he wouldn't be a Baltimore Raven, who knows who he would be if he gave up. Michael has a lot of traits other people have too.
Personal Connection: I chose Michael Oher as my hero. Michael Oher inspires me that no matter what happens that you keep going and never give up. He really makes me feel like I can do anything, whenever you want and no one can stop you in your path. He didn't let anyone get in his way of of becoming a professional football player. Somebody can tell say, " you can do anything." But when you read about Michael Oher you actually feel like you can do anything. I feel like I'm like Michael Oher in a sense because he doesn't give up easy, if he ever gives up and I don't either. I keep pushing, and so does Michael. Michael is a little different than me too. Michael had to go through foster parent, after foster parent. But I don't have to go through that. He had a tough life, but now he is living a pretty good life thanks to the Tuohy family. Michael Oher is my hero!!
