To be a hero, you don't just help someone. A hero can be anyone you look up to. Someone that made a difference in your life. If you are admired for your courage, nobility, or your achievements; that makes you a hero.

I think it's important to have a hero because it's someone you'd want to be like. I don't think you have to have a hero but it's always nice to have one. It's someone you know you can trust, someone you admire and look up to.

One of my heroes in my life is Mike Sewell. He is my high school band director and also my favorite teacher. He has showed me how to be a better person. If I was going to be a Band director, I'd hope to be just like him. I admire him fully for his devotion and hard work he has put into the Pickerington Central High School Marching Tiger Band. That includes taking the band to New York City to march in the annual Macy's Day Parade and taking the band to march in the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.

If there was a Hall of Fame, I'd want my hero to go into it because he is one amazing person. If You know him, you would understand. He takes care of you as a person. He's not just a teacher, he's a friend. Mr Sewell has worked very hard for the Pickerington Central High School Marching Tiger Band since 1981. He has helped us perform to our fullest, march in many parades that only some would dream of marching in, and he's helped us to become closer; closer to music and closer to everyone in the band. He's taught us that we're a family, one big happy family and that we should help each other as a family member and as a friend. No matter who you are, what you play, or what you look like.

Mr. Sewell's hero is his father. His name was Earl Sewell. Mr. Sewell proudly respects his dad very much. He's a man of faith, he believes in service to others, and he was kind to everyone. He talks the talk and walks the walk. Earl has taught Mr. Mike Sewell through the life he lived. He taught him to always be kind and to pay forward; be willing to help others with no reason needed, to not expect anything in return. Also he taught him to always do the right thing. To be a hero of Mr. Sewell's you need to be real. Meaning you never disappoint others. Listening to Mr. Sewell talk about his Dad reminds me of my grandpa and how he is another one of my heroes. Also as I was listening to him, it made me want to meet his father more and more. He sounded like a wonderful person. I bet Mr. Sewell is just like his dad by the way he talked about him. Mr. Sewell is definitely close to my heart and has definitely made a difference in my life. I can't wait to finish my high school career with him.
