My hero is Mother Teresa. I came to learn about my hero when one day I saw my mom reading a book about Mother Teresa. She told me all about her and what an amazing person she was. I knew right away that Mother Teresa was an excellent example of a hero.

Mother Teresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in India in 1950. For over forty-five years she ministered to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying. Many people would never care for these people. She loved helping other people. Mother Teresa opened a home for those who were suffering from leprosy. The Missionaries of Charity also established several leprosy outreach clinics. Mother Teresa felt the need to create a home for the orphans. She opened a home in the year 1955.

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia, on August 26, 1910. Her family was Albanian descendant. At the age of twelve, she felt strongly the call of God. She knew she had to be a missionary to spread the call of Christ. At the age of eighteen she left her parental home in Skopje and joined the Sisters of Loreto. The Sisters of Loreto were an Irish community of nuns. After a few months training in Dublin she was sent to India, where on May 24, 1931, she took her initial vows as a nun.

Mother Teresa lived a very long and happy life. She helped many people throughout her entire life. She had a very close relationship to God. Sadly, Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997.

Mother Teresa is very important to me. She was a very loving person. She took care of everyone she possibly could. She took care of the sick people when no one else would, they would just leave them to die. She was a very extraordinary person with all the things she did. She was very close to God at a very young age. She is inspiring to so many people including me.
