Mr. MIchael D. Sewell

by Crysta Haynes from Canal Winchester

"Teach always, use words if necessary"

A hero to me is someone who can inspire and help you reach your dreams and achieve personal greatness. I feel it's important to have a hero in your life because it gives you something to aspire to be like and believe in. Having a personal hero or a public hero is good for you.

My personal hero is Mr. Sewell, my band director at Pickerington High School Central (PHSC). Mr. Sewell has inspired to me to do my very best at everything I do, and that if I give it my all I'm giving the very best I can. He has also taught me to learn from my mistakes and grow through them. He's been a great inspiration to me, and always has great stories from his many, many years of being the band director at PHSC. Recently, he had open-heart surgery, but is doing well and getting back into directing the concert and symphonic bands, as well as organizing for the upcoming marching band season.

I believe Mr. Sewell should be in "The Hall of Fame" because he has touched many people; students and parents, through his work with the various band programs. With his recent heart surgery, he is recovering well and continuing his work at my high school (PHSC). He has taken our school bands to district and state competitions and we continue to get high ratings. The program he runs is going well and continues to bring students and families together. Mr. Sewell is a great inspiration in my life.
