Mia Hamm

by Marjeta from Ansonia

Swish!! Slash!! Boom!! goes Mia Hamm’s leg as she swishes the soccer ball into the net and makes a fantastic goal. My hero is Mia Hamm because she has encouraged me to play soccer. She says many quotes that mean a lot to me. One of my favorites is, “I am building a fire, and every day I train, I add more fuel. At just the right moment I light the match.’’ This is my favorite quote because it means keep practicing and when the day comes you’ll be perfect. Mia Hamm is a person who I look up to; she’s a role-model to me. Now I will talk about Mia’s biographical information and how she helped her community, also, how Mia didn’t struggle with her goals and how she has many characteristics of being a role-model to me. Finally how Mia is considered a hero to me and she’s made a difference in my life. As you can see, these are the reasons why Mia is my role-model.

Many things are important about Mia Hamm. One of the most important things in her biographical information is that her real name is Mariel Margaret Hamm. She was born March 17, 1972 in Selma Alabama. She goes to the University of North Carolina. Her position in soccer is forward. Mia’s brother died in 1997. Mia Hamm has been married twice but now she is married to Nomar Garciaparra. She has two twin daughters named Grace and Ava. Another important part in Mia Hamm’s life is when she helped her community. She helped her community by helping kids with bone marrow disease. She has her own foundation called the “Mia Hamm Foundation’’ to help children with this disease. Mia has participated in many events to support bone marrow disease research. As you can see, this is Mia’s biographical information and that’s how she helped her community.

Mia hasn’t struggled much with her goals. Mia has been playing soccer for a long time and she seems to have no problem doing it. The only reason why Mia did retire was because she had two daughters and a family at home. I am proud of Mia Hamm. A reason for that is she has many characteristics. Mia is very skilled and brave. She can do so many tricks with the soccer ball, and she is able to play soccer and then go home to two daughters. The last characteristic of Mia Hamm is that she’s caring because she helped patients that had bone marrow disease. As you can see, those are the characteristics of Mia Hamm and she hasn’t struggled with her goals.

Mia has been a hero to me and she has made a difference in my life. One reason is because Mia never quits. She always plays fairly in soccer. She’s also considered a hero to me because she helped patients with bone marrow disease. Mia has made a difference in my life because she’s always persuading people to go on. Lastly, she’s very brave because she’s made a difference in my life and she’s a person who I honor and trust for all the things she does.

As you can see, these are the reasons why Mia Hamm is considered a hero and she has encouraged me to go on. I think Mia Hamm will be honored everywhere for being the best woman athlete and I would be delighted to meet her some day. “ The person who said winning isn’t anything never won any anything.’’
