A hero is someone who is dedicated to what they do. A hero is someone who never gives up, someone who cares about other people and their abilities, and someone who is willing to do a good deed. My hero, Master Jino Kim, covers all of those. Master Jino Kim was born in the year 1964. He first started taking lessons in Tang Soo Do when he was five years old. He obtained his first black belt when he was eleven years old. Master Jino Kim got a degree in Physical Education from Korea's Dan-Kook University. His current occupation is running his J. Kim Martial Arts doh jahng (Martial Arts School).

Master Jino Kim came to America in 1991, and founded the Tang Soo Do Federation and J. Kim Martial Arts, so he could spread the traditional Korean Martial Arts, and show people how to protect themselves. In August of 1990, the first international Tang Soo Do Tournament brought Team Korea to competition here in the U.S. Among the competitors was Master Jino Kim. Kim gave 110% at the tournament. How did he win? Remembering to say in his head, "Never give up!"

Tang Soo Do has always been part of his life. This is why he loves it so much and to this day, he still practices the traditional martial arts. Master Jino Kim always helps his students at his own doh jahng, J.Kim Martial Arts, when they are confused or need help. He also teaches his students who are advanced in the martial arts how to improve there skills to make it perfect. That is why he cares about his students' abilities.

I hope my writing has effected what you think of a hero and who you think is your true hero. I'm happy that Master Jino Kim is my hero for everything that he has done and accomplished. To me, I'm proud that Master Jino Kim is someone who will push me to be a true master just like him.

Fun Facts:

World-renowned actor-martial artists Chuck Norris even came from the Traditional Tang Soo Do roots, having earned his black belt in the U.S. O-San Air Force Base (K-55) school-which was founded by Master Jino Kim's father, Great Grandmaster Song-Ki(kee) Kim.

Great Grandmaster Song-Ki Kim, is currently the World Tang Soo Do Union President.

Over a thousand of Great Grandmaster Song-Ki Kim's former students have become top Masters and Grand Masters all around the world.

Great Grandmaster Song-Ki Kim founded the Tang Soo Do Regional headquarters.

Great Grandmaster Song-Ki Kim has over 50 years of experience. He is a #312 Dan (belt level).

Tang Soo Do is practiced in six different continents. North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

In Korean, Tang means attack/strike, Soo means Hand, and Do means way of life/art.
