"Talent wins games, but hard work and intelligence wins championships," Michael Jordan. Michael Jordan was a hard working and intelligent player. This quote represents Jordan's belief that if you give 100% on every play and every moment on the court, that you will accomplish any of your goals. This is also true of life. If you give 100% to your education, you will achieve your goal of a promising career. In your career if you give your all, you will achieve success. Within your family if you give everything, you will achieve family security. Michael Jordan is one of the best NBA players in the whole universe. Though his whole life, Jordan has accomplished many things. These things include, but are limited to, being wealthy and successful.

Jordan was born in 1963, and grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina ("Michael Jordan" Encyclopedia of World Biography). Jordan grew up interested in sports; his dad brought him into basketball, and quickly noticed his talent. Jordan was very talented and successful his freshmen year in college. He averaged 13 points a game and was given the title of ACC freshmen of the year ("Michael Jordan." Encyclopedia of World Biography). Jordan got drafted to the Chicago Bulls after his junior year at The University of North Carolina. Jordan averaged about 28 points his rookie year in the National Basketball Association (2011 ESPN Internet Ventures).

Despite the many obstacles that Michael Jordan had to overcome his perseverance paid off. In the summer of 1993 Jordan's father was murdered during a robbery attempt ("Michael Jordan." U*X*L Biographies). Jordan retired from playing his dream sport, basketball shortly thereafter. In the 1994-1995 season Jordan came back to defeat the Orlando Magic ("Michael Jordan." U*X*L Biographies). In the same year Jordan scored surpassed 25,000 points in the NBA making him only the 10th person with that accomplishment. ("Michael Jordan." Encyclopedia of World Biography). Jordan overcame his father's death by putting everything behind him and going back to doing the one thing that his dad got him into. Jordan did things that made him happy when times were bad. The only thing that made him happy was to play his favorite sport; basketball. Jordan was successful on the court as well as off the court. Jordan's professional life as a business man made him just as successful. Jordan had many endorsements. ("Michael Jordan." Business Leader Profiles for Students). Michael Jordan didn't just make money on the court he did the same off the court by endorsing a number of products. ("Michael Jordan." Business Leader Profiles for Students). Having endorsements made him a multimillionaire as well as being ranked the world's highest paid athlete with a 30 million dollar a year contract. Jordan made 30 million on the court and 42 million off the court ("Michael Jordan." Business Leader Profiles for Students). He made more off the court than on the court.

The next best thing to playing on a team is owning a team. In 1999 Jordan returned for the second time as the greatest basketball player ever to live. In 2000 Jordan became a part owner and president of basketball operations of the Washington Wizards ("Michael Jordan." Business Leader Profiles for Students). Since Jordan is too old to play basketball, he now owns the Charlotte Bobcats ("Michael Jordan." Encyclopedia of World Biography). The Bobcats may not be the best team; however they somehow will be very soon. This made him only the 3rd African American to own a National Basketball Association team. He also gained ownership of the Washington Capitals hockey team ("Michael Jordan." Encyclopedia of World Biography). Jordan also gave a one million dollar grant to help teachers make a difference in their schools. Jordan is not just a business man and a basketball player; he is a person that always gave back to the people that helped him throughout his life. Jordan has given back to many organizations, such as schools, hospitals, and many more. Reading about Michael Jordan has helped me to see how important an education and hard work are to someone's life. He is the kind of hero that a kid who is growing up should have.

"Talent wins games, but hard work and intelligence wins championships." Michael Jordan is a great person on and off the basketball court. His talent got him playing the game, his intelligence kept him in the game. Jordan won many championships and made a lot of money, but never forgot the journey on his way up the ladder of life. He gave back to the community, the schools, and the kids. Jordan inspires me to always do my best in all aspects of my life. He has made me realize that college is not just about playing sports, but more so that your education is what is key to being successful. Having a good attitude and being responsible are important aspects of life and of the game. Do everything to the best of your ability, give 100%. Have a plan, and stick to it. To achieve your goals you must set some first. Never give up on your dreams.
