When people hear the name Michael Jordan or M.J., they think of a legendary basketball player, one of the greatest to play the game. But to me he’s more than just a basketball player, he’s my hero. My story is about a living legend being a hero to me, just a thirteen year old boy.

Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. He was raised in Wilmington, North Carolina. Throughout his life he had a love for the game of basketball. In high school when he tried out for the varsity basketball team, he was shocked when he found out he was …….. cut from the team. Instead of Jordan quitting basketball and giving up, it made him want to practice more and more and more. Instead of becoming a loser right there, it made him become a winner.

Jordan was a superstar his senior year in high school and was offered a scholarship at the University of North Carolina. He accepted the scholarship and his freshman season at North Carolina they won the NCAA tournament. Jordan made the game winning shot. Jordan then left theTar Heels two years later and entered the draft where he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls. Jordan was unstoppable as a Bull and he later became a hall of famer. Jordan was unselfish as he donated lots of money to the poor.

Michael Jordan is my hero because he has shown me not to quit when things don’t go as planned. He has also taught me not to be conceited and how to be generous. Jordan was one of the best basketball players ever, and yet he was never arrogant. Michael Jordan is my hero as a player, but most of all as a person.
