Michael Jordan is a very well known African American basketball player. People have heard how great he is but just how great is that? He was a 5 time NBA MVP, he was the NBA finals MVP 6 times, he won Six NBA championships, 14 All star Selections and there are still many more things he has that I could name but it would be most of this paragraph. In 2009 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. How did he gain all those achievements?

Michael Jordan was born February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn New York. His parents where Deloris Jordan and James R. Jordan, Sr. When Michael was very young the moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. He tried out for the varsity basketball team when he was a sophomore but he failed to make it. He worked hard and the next year tried out and made the team. While a junior he averaged 20 points a game. The next year he grew a substantial amount and averaged 29 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. He was on his way to a great career.

When Michael Graduated from high school he went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His first year as a freshmen at University of North Carolina he was named the Atlantic Coast Conferance's Rookie of the Year. Michael Jordan played basketball for North Carolina until his junior season. That is when he joined the bulls and the National Basketball Association.

When Michael Jordan was recruited to the Bulls, it was during a losing period of their franchise. In his first season he was named to the all star team and was later called the Rookie of the Year. The Bulls did not advance further then the first round of the playoffs until 1988. That year Michael concentrated on other Basketballs skills and in 1988 he was named the Defensive player of the year. He also was named MVP and MVP of the all star game that year. They won the 1991 NBA Title then they won again in 1992. He went on to win 6 NBA titles in total. It also took him 3 times to retire. He also played for the Chicago White Sox minor league team to show how talented he really was. It was a brief career but was a very cool thing to see. On April 16, 2003 he retired for good. He is currently the majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Michael Jordan was looked up to by many individuals. Though he was a great basketball player he also was a father and a husband. He was involved with the community and did a great amount of labor to get at the position he is at today. I am astonished at how Michael Jordan played the game of basketball. I believe that the NBA wouldn't be the same without him. That is why Michael Jordan is My Hero.
