What does it take to be courageous, brave, to struggle through hard times in life and come out even better? What does it take to truly be great, be a hero? It takes many great qualities, and a balance of fun and a good work ethic. My hero, Matt Kemp, excels not only on the field, but off it as well.

The person who inspires me is Matt Kemp, an outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was born on September 23, 1984 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. He grew up as a multi-sport star, excelling in basketball and baseball. Instead of going to the University of Oklahoma on a full ride, he chose baseball instead. Presently, he lives in Los Angeles and hasn't married yet. He lives his life in "beast mode" and works extremely hard to get the job done at all times, no matter what it is.

On the field, Kemp is an absolute monster in all aspects of the game. He can hit, hit for power, run, throw, and catch. The definition of a five-tool player. In addition, he also contributes to the community off the field, by having fundraisers and playing in charity games to raise money that all goes to charity. Kemp strongly supports ONEHOPE and the Red Cross Foundation, and appears at many events and fundraisers.

Matt Kemp greatly inspires me because of the way he lives his life and how hard a worker he is. He is always in Beast Mode, which means there are no excuses about anything, and there is no complaining. Beast Mode is always focused on the task at hand, and works to get the job done. The way he goes about his business motivates me to work as hard as he does, and truly be in Beast Mode. As soon as I saw how Kemp transformed himself into the best player in the MLB, it opened my eyes to how hard I should be working if I want to complete my goal of playing Major League Baseball. In my eyes and many others as well, Matt Kemp is a hero.

Overall, Matt Kemp is a hero with amazing qualities. His hard work while playing makes him the best player in all of baseball, and his work off the diamond can truly inspire anyone out there. Even non-baseball fans will be impressed by this young man's talent in many different situations. Matt Kemp, you are my hero.
