All of us live our life like we are guaranteed a tomorrow; if you live your life like tomorrow is not guaranteed, then you will feel that life is not a joke. Most people go through their life just to be there, and they think that they have no chance at living their dreams, but not my hero. My hero is Marc Mariani.
My hero was raised in Havre, Montana. He went on to play football at the University of Montana, becoming one of the most successful wide receivers in history. Now he plays on the Tennessee Titans professional football team as a kick and punt returner. Football was not his best sport while he was at Havre High School, it was tennis (Wikipedia). He walked onto the U of M’s football team, not even being recruited to play for the Grizzlies.
Marc Mariani made a difference. His best sport in high school was tennis, and even though he lettered in football, he lettered more in tennis (Wikipedia). Five years later, he is playing on a professional football team in the NFL. This shows that he turned the impossible into reality. Marc Mariani deserves to be revered as one of the best players to ever play at the University of Montana, especially because of how he went from an all-state tennis player to a pro football player.
Marc Mariani is one of the most influential people to me. On the Five-O'clock news I saw him going into the airport to go to the National Championship game in 2009, and as the rest of his team walked in very stuck-up and feeling on top of the world, Marc went out his way to give a physically disabled woman a hug and say thank you for supporting the team. It is compassion like that, that makes him my hero. Marc Mariani is a great person, and I feel that he should be recognized for that.
Marc Mariani will be revered as a great football player, but in my mind he deserves to receive an award for being one of the kindest people that have ever played a the University of Montana. He is one of the best people to represent the U of M. Marc Mariani will be my hero for a long time, and he really deserves it.
