The definition of a hero is someone that has accomplished something in life that you look forward to achieving in your life, or someone who inspires you to do better. They also have qualities that you can look up to. The person who I see as my hero is Manny Ramirez. He plays for the Boston Red Sox. Manny Ramirez is a concentrated, dedicated, and passionate player. He strives to be the best that he can be.

Manny’s full name is Manuel Aristides Ramirez. He was born on May 30, 1972. He was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He was raised in a neighborhood near Yankee stadium. He attended George Washington High School in Washington Heights. On October 2001, Manny married local restaurant hostess Juliana Monterio in a private ceremony. He and Juliana met while working out at Bally's gym. He now has a child Manny Jr. Ramirez and his wife now live in their off season home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He kept his wife and son out of the public eye. Manny has also a cousin from the Chicago Cubs, Aramis Ramirez. He stays close with family although busy with baseball.

While attending George Washington High, he was named all city in 1989, 1990, 1991 and was the New York City Public Schools High School Player of the Year in 1991. Although growing up in the city, he was a devoted Toronto Blue Jay fan in the 1980s because of the high number of Latino players. He went to the majors right out of high school and also made it to the Cleveland Indians from 1993-2000. He continued with baseball on the Boston Red Sox in 2001. In 2004 he brought the Red Sox out of their 86 year losing streak to become the world champions. He then was named most valuable player of the year. He finished 9th in voting in 2001 and 2002.317 Batting Average (66th All Time), .413 On-base percentage (31st All Time), .598 Slugging Percentage (8th All Time) and 347 Home Runs (70th All Time).Made major league debut on 2 September 1993.

He is his own person. He has always been Manny. He doesn't wear a different face and is not afraid to show the true side of himself. Manny is a fun-loving guy and respects people's feelings. Manny is a funny and outgoing person, this is plain to see through his game. He attracts media and puts his face out there to let people know he is coming and he is not letting anyone stop him.
