Mike Vallely

A hero is someone who people look up to and admire. At first glance Mike Vallely may not seem like your typical hero. In the eyes of skateboarders worldwide he is the driving force behind many upcoming skaters. His unique style and tricks amaze all, he helps encourage and push others along, and despite his fame and fortune he does not skate for either of these reasons.

Skateboarding is a demanding sport, both mentally and physically. Mike V’s talent and style are recognizable throughout the world. At a young age Mike began skating and creating new tricks. This got him recognized very soon and before long he was well known throughout the skating world. Some call him a pioneer of skating because he is constantly pushing the limits of his body and gravity. He has a personal motto “no fear” which has definitely showed in his skating.

Mike also encourages other skaters to enjoy skating. He is known to show up at random skate parks and skate with all the kids just to encourage them to keep skating. He also traveled to third world countries to bring skating to people who have never seen it before. His generosity, along with that, is just as great as his love for the sport. He will give loads of skate equipment to kids who are not as well off as others.

Though Mike is famous, that is the last reason he skates. His skating is pure fun and self motivated. He does not strive for riches or trophies, just respect as a skater. Some skate just to get money; these people may be good at skating but are not doing it for the right reasons. When Mike skates he does it out of love, not because he has to.

Mike Vallely has blasted through the barriers of normal skating with an innovative style of his own. He skates not for fame, but for fun and respect. Mike V has inspired droves of skaters, both young and old, to push the limits, and be yourself. His motto “no fear” is fitting because heroes have no fear.
